Electrician websites: a practical checklist

People choosing an electrician want reassurance above all: that you are qualified, reliable and local. Your website should answer those questions before they have to ask.

Make qualifications easy to check

If you belong to a competent person scheme or trade body, say which one and how customers can check it. Put this near the top of the page and beside your contact buttons, not only in the footer.

List the jobs you actually do

Domestic, commercial, rewires, fuse boards, EV chargers, testing and inspection: list the services you offer in plain language, each with a sentence on what is involved. Customers searching for a specific job should see it named.

Make contact one tap away

A tap-to-call number at the top of every page, a short quote form and a clear note of your response times. If you offer emergency call-outs, say when.

Show real work

Photos of your own jobs (with the customer’s permission) are more convincing than stock images. A few genuine reviews near the contact form help too.

Cover your areas

Name your base town in the page title and heading, and list the areas you cover. Keep this consistent with your Google Business Profile.

Write for the jobs people search for

Customers rarely search for “electrical services”. They search for the job in front of them: a new consumer unit, an EICR for a rental, outside lighting, an EV charger. A short section for each common job, explaining what is involved and how you quote, matches what people look for.

Make landlords and businesses feel welcome

If you do landlord certificates or commercial work, say so clearly and explain how booking works for them: access arrangements, out-of-hours work, and how you send certificates. These clients often become repeat customers.

Keep everything current

Check that your phone number, opening hours and service list are up to date, and that the copyright year in the footer is current. Small signs of neglect make visitors wonder whether you are still trading.

Questions

What should an electrician’s homepage include?

Your main services, the areas you cover, proof of registration, genuine reviews and a tap-to-call number at the top.

Do I need separate pages for each service?

For your main services, a short dedicated page or section helps both customers and search engines. Minor services can share a page.
